Many Car hire companies operate in North Cyprus and prices vary depending upon which season you wish to visit the inland. In the low season Nov-Mar cars can be hired from as little as 12 STG per day, this rises in the peak months of July and August when the price will be 29 STG per day.

If you intend to hire a car for longer than 2 weeks it is well worth shopping around, many companies will make large discounts on long term rentals . Cars can be delivered to your hotel or you can collect directly from Ercan airport in Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. You will need a current driving license, passport and a credit card. Some companies will accept cash payment in Euros, Dollars and Sterling. Car hire when flying into South Cyprus is easy, as car hire companies from North Cyprus will collect you from Larnaca or Paphos and drive you over to the North of the island, where you will then be able to collect the car of your choice.

Somethings to consider while driving in North Cyprus

When you get a hire car , please check before you sign the hire agreement that the following items are in the car:

1- Spare wheel

2- Jack

3- Triangle for accident

4- Fire extinguisher

5- First Aid Kit

6- Insurance document, road tax and emissions test certificate.

If any of the above above item is not in the car do not accept it, because the police will fine you and not the hire company. It is the driver responsibility to make sure that all the above items are in the vehicle before driving it.

Please make sure that you keep your driving license with you whenever you drive a hire car in Cyprus. You have to wear your seatbelt and do not use mobile phone while driving in TRNC as their are many speed cameras in various locations in North Cyprus.

Drinking and driving will void the insurance, if you have an accident under the influence of alcohol or drugs; you will have to pay for all the damages resulting from the accident . If it’s your fault you pay for the repair of the third party damages caused by you.

When collecting the car hire in Cyprus, if the tank is filled with petrol, they will ask you to pay for it in advance. When you return the hire car at the end of the hiring period you need not to fill it, if you do so, they will not refund you the cost of the petrol left in the tank.
